SONIC ARTS WATERFORD

Creating cultural links and artist exchanges between Waterford, Ireland and other digital artistic hubs around the world.

Sonic Arts Waterford was formed in January 2013 by Mick Shanahan and Magdalena Lipinska to create cultural links and artist exchanges between Waterford, Ireland and other digital artistic hubs around the world. We wanted to create opportunities for Irish artists as well as exposing a national audience to the work of visiting experts in the areas of experimental electronic music and arts. Between then and September, the project team expanded as our first festival edition grew closer.

In September 2013 we held our first SAW Fest over 3 days. The festival drew artists from around the world and was widely praised in national media and by those who had joined us to perform and our audiences.

SAW Fest 2014 took place in September last year with artists and audiences joining us from around Europe for 3 days of experimental music and electronic arts.

2015 sees some personnel changes within our organisation with some members retiring and others joining our team. We wish all the very best to those leaving us and a huge welcome to those becoming part of Sonic Arts Waterford!!

In 2015 we also  moved towards a new name for our festival.  Sonic Dreams is the new name as we retired SAW Fest. It was felt that ‘SAW Fest’ no longer represents the direction we are moving. The name change is also a tribute to those who have worked with us in the past but have retired from the Sonic Arts Waterford team including former Director Magdalena Lipinska.

We look forward to all joining us in 2016!!
